Walkabouts: Much More Than Standard
Dr. Julian Reed created much more than a standard active learning platform with Walkabouts, but he did want to keep standards top of mind. That’s why Walkabouts correlate to state, Head Start, and NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children) standards!
After you select a Walkabout, the correlations for the Walkabout display beneath the player window. This detailed list of correlations will help you include Walkabouts in your daily lesson plans and communicate the covered standards to administrators if required.
Correlations may display in up to four categories:
CORRELATED / CORRESPONDING STANDARDS
Walkabouts are correlated to each state’s standards for Pre-K (in some states) through 2nd grade.
HEAD START STANDARDS
Head Start standards promote school readiness of children from birth to age five by supporting development in a comprehensive way. Pre-K and some kindergarten Walkabouts are correlated to Head Start standards.
NAEYC STANDARDS
NAEYC standards promote high-quality experiences in early childhood programs for children from birth through kindergarten. Pre-K and many kindergarten Walkabouts are correlated to NAEYC standards.
CORRELATIONS FOR DIFFERENTIATED INSTRUCTION
Correlations for differentiated instruction will help you meet the needs of children who perform a grade level above (up to third grade) or below the grade level you are teaching.
