Our Movement is About More Than Just Movement: We Stand Committed to Equity
Over the last few weeks, the ActivEd team has watched as the senseless murders of Ahmaud Arbery, George Floyd, and Breonna Taylor have made our country’s reprehensible history of systemic racism impossible to ignore.
More than just watching, though, we have been listening. We have been learning. We have been reflecting on how our Walkabouts platform can do even more to promote the principles of equity and social justice that our company was created to promote. We believe there is nothing more liberating and empowering than inclusive, engaging education for all students, but we know that many of the most marginalized, unsupported, and overlooked learners in our schools are black. We are committed to do all we can to help change that, starting with development of new content specifically focused on fighting racism and fostering empathy in the minds and hearts of young learners. We will also be strengthening our existing ties with organizations whose expertise in diversity and social-emotional learning can inform and guide both content, policies, and programs.
To all black people, and especially to black educators and students: we see you, we hear you, and we stand ready to move with you into a more just and equitable future.
